Jane Hutchins, the Director of Cambridge Science Park, has been appointed chair of the new Anglia Ruskin University Business Advisory Board. Courtesy – ARU.The recently-created body allows ARU to link more closely with industry in the region and ensure graduates have the skills needed for the workplace. The board comprises five ARU experts sitting alongside 12 representatives from a range of businesses, from large corporations to small and medium sized enterprises. Named as Director of Cambridge Science Park in August 2022, Hutchins brings a wealth of experience of the science park sector and the innovative companies and people it serves. She is also current chair of the Cambridge Forum for Place, established by Cambridge University Health Partners and the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Combined Authority. She said: “The Business Advisory Board plays a key role in identifying the enduring skills that will enable students to develop sustainable careers in a rapidly changing workplace. “By bringing together representatives from a truly diverse range of businesses, to identify and articulate employers’ current and future needs, ARU is enabling students to benefit from specialist education beyond the curriculum. “The board will also actively help promote research initiatives, fostering innovation within the university. By staying abreast of industry trends, it ensures that Anglia Ruskin remains at the forefront of education and equips students with cutting-edge knowledge.” Professor Mohammad Ali, Pro Vice Chancellor and Dean for the Faculty of Business and Law at ARU, is thrilled by the appointment.
