PARK CODE

Last Updated: 9th April 2026

Keeping the Park Safe, Sustainable and Enjoyable for Everyone

This Park Code sets out how we all work together to keep Cambridge Science Park running smoothly, safely, and sustainably.

It applies to everyone on the Park, including occupiers, employees, visitors, contractors, and anyone else using the space. By being here, you agree to follow these guidelines, alongside the terms of your lease, licence or other legal agreement.

The Park is owned by Trinity College, University of Cambridge, and managed on their behalf by Bidwells LLP (Cambridge Science Park Management).

This page provides a summary of the Park Code to support day-to-day use of the Park. If you would like further detail, please contact the Park Management team. helloteam@cambridgesciencepark.co.uk

  1. How the Park is Managed

Cambridge Science Park is managed by Bidwells LLP on behalf of Trinity College.
They oversee the day-to-day running of the Park and may issue reasonable guidance or updates from time to time to support how it operates.

All decisions are made fairly and with respect to existing lease or licence agreements.

  1. Access, Security and Safety

To help keep everyone safe and secure:

  • Please follow any security procedures in place when accessing the Park
  • Occupiers are asked to take responsibility for their employees, visitors and contractors
  • ID badges or passes should be worn where required
  • Unauthorised access, tailgating or interference with security systems is prohibited
  1. Using Buildings and Shared Spaces
  • Buildings should be used for their intended purpose, in line with the Park’s role as an R&D and innovation community
  • We ask that activities do not cause disruption, nuisance or risk to others
  • Shared spaces (including paths, roads and landscaped areas) should be kept clear at all times
  • Please seek prior written approval from the Park Management team before storing any items in shared areas
  1. Traffic, Parking and Travel
  • Please follow all speed limits and signage across the Park
  • Parking is available in designated spaces and should follow any controls in place
  • Electric vehicle charging points are for authorised use and we ask that they are used considerately
  • Vehicles parked outside of these arrangements may be removed at the owner’s risk and cost
  • Cycling is welcomed on designated routes, with bikes stored in approved areas
  1. Health, Safety and Emergencies
  • Occupiers must follow all relevant health and safety legislation and Park policies
  • Fire exits, alarms and emergency routes should always be kept clear
  • Please report any accidents, incidents or near misses promptly
  • We ask everyone to cooperate fully with emergency procedures and drills
  1. Contractors, Works and Changes
  • Contractors should be approved in advance by Park Management
  • You may be asked to provide risk assessments, method statements and insurance details before starting work
  • Works should be planned to minimise noise, disruption, dust and obstruction
  • Any structural or external changes to buildings will require prior written approval
  1. Environment and Sustainability

We all play an important role in supporting the Park’s environmental goals:

  • Please use waste facilities correctly and separate waste where required
  • Do not release hazardous, polluting, or environmentally harmful substances
  • Use energy and water responsibly and efficiently

Using Chemicals and VOCs (Volatile Organic Compounds)

If your work involves substances that may release VOCs:

  • You are encouraged to assess their use carefully
  • A suitable risk assessment should be carried out in line with COSHH regulations
  • It is helpful to consider:
    • The nature, duration and frequency of exposure
    • The presence of others nearby
    • How exposure can be prevented or controlled
    • Whether safer alternatives are available
  • Please notify Park Management in advance where there may be an impact on neighbouring spaces
  • Additional measures or adjustments may be recommended where appropriate

This does not prevent the use of such substances where it is lawful and properly managed.

  1. Noise, Behaviour and Events
  • We ask that noise levels are kept to a reasonable level
  • Respectful behaviour is expected at all times.
  • Offensive, aggressive, or antisocial behaviour will not be tolerated.
  • Outdoor events, amplified sound or PA systems will require prior approval
  1. Signage and Branding
  • External signage should meet Park design standards and be approved in advance
  • Please seek permission before displaying posters, banners or adverts in shared areas
  • Lighting or displays should not cause distraction or disturbance
  1. Animals, Wildlife and Water Features
  • Dogs and other domestic animals are welcome, provided they are kept under control
  • Dogs and other domestic animals should be on leads in shared areas unless otherwise indicated
  • Owners are responsible for cleaning up after their animals and disposing of waste responsibly
  • Assistance animals are always welcome in line with legislation
  • Animals should not cause nuisance, damage or safety concerns
  • Wildlife should be respected and not disturbed, captured, or interfered with
  • Fishing is not permitted in lakes or water features
  • Feeding wildlife is discouraged unless agreed

Park Management may introduce reasonable measures where needed.

  1. Deliveries and Waste Collection
  • Deliveries should only take place at designated times and locations
  • Please avoid unnecessary vehicle idling
  • Waste collection should follow Park procedures and schedules
  1. CCTV and Data Protection
  • CCTV and monitoring systems are in place to support safety and security
  • Trinity College is the Data Controller, with Bidwells managing data on its behalf
  • Interference with monitoring equipment is not permitted
  1. If Issues Arise

If the Park Code is not followed, Park Management may:

  • Request that any issues are addressed
  • Take reasonable steps to manage access where necessary
  • Recover reasonable costs incurred

Serious or repeated issues may also be considered under lease or licence terms

  1. Updates to the Park Code

This Park Code may be updated from time to time.
The most recent version will always be shared through Park communications.
