Xampla has expanded the rollout of its plastic-free Morro Coating, with new takeaway boxes now available across 10 additional European markets through Just Eat Takeaway.com’s delivery platform.
Produced by global packaging manufacturer Huhtamaki, the boxes use Xampla’s plant-protein coating to replace the plastic or PFAS linings traditionally used in food delivery packaging. Fully recyclable and compatible with existing recycling streams, the packaging maintains strength and heat retention even with greasy or moist foods.
The expansion builds on earlier launches in Germany and Austria and marks a significant step in scaling plastic-free takeaway packaging across Europe as demand grows for materials which can genuinely replace plastic under tightening regulations.
Alexandra French, Xampla CEO and Park member said: “Europe is moving fast on packaging regulation, and the demand for materials that can genuinely replace plastic has never been stronger. There is real regulatory clarity across these markets, strong environmental ambition, and a willingness to adopt new materials when they work.
“For us, this expansion is about scale. We have proven Morro™ Coating works; now we are rolling it out across 12 European markets through one of the continent’s largest food delivery platforms”.
