South Cambs MP rides Cambridge micromobility innovation

Anthony Browne, MP for South Cambridgeshire and Minister for Decarbonisation visited the Bradfield Centre, Cambridge Science Park on 9th February to test ride the CitiPod, a 4-wheel enclosed e-bike developed by Cambridge Electric Transport (CET). The MP said he was delighted to see innovations like this being developed by a local start-up. “We urgently need to change and diversify our transport modes over the coming decade to achieve our zero carbon targets, and this vehicle matches exactly the government’s concerted programme to decarbonise transport. The CitiPod makes cycling far more inclusive by providing four-wheel stability, weather protection and the safety of a canopy surrounding the rider and passengers.” CET received government grants to build the first prototype and is now raising equity finance to further develop the design and progress to production next year. Sean Moroney, co-founder and CEO of CET said, “We plan to have CitiPods on Cambridgeshire roads and cycleways by mid-2025.” “The CitiPod design makes micromobility desirable and aspirational, which is needed to achieve mass adoption for business and personal mobility.” He said. The MP commended CET, “I want to congratulate CET on the great progress it has made and encourage investors, employers and local government bodies to support their efforts so that we can accelerate this solution into the market.” For more details of the CitiPod email info@citipod.uk
