North Cambridge’s only Hyrox-style training hub is opening at the Park, bringing a new era of functional fitness to the area.
The new Revolution Fitness Co. space will offer Hyrox-style training, strength and conditioning classes, circuits and structured fitness programmes, with manager Callum Osborne saying the aim is to create a welcoming space for everyone from complete beginners to experienced athletes. “There isn’t really anything like this on this side of Cambridge,” says Callum. “A lot of similar facilities are further out or right in the city centre, so it’s great to bring this kind of training here and make it accessible for more people.”
For Callum, the launch is also something of a full-circle moment. Long before he managed the gym, he was one of the local kids growing up around Cambridge Science Park. “I’ve always been around this area,” he explains. “As kids we used to come here all the time. We’d play Manhunt around the Park, and ride our bikes.”
Now he’s returned to oversee the gym’s biggest transformation in years.
The new training space can host up to 24 people per class and introduces a packed timetable focused on functional fitness, strength and conditioning. While Hyrox-inspired training is a major focus, Callum is keen to stress the facility is not just aimed at elite fitness enthusiasts. “We wanted to bring that style of training here because it’s massive at the moment,” he says. “But the big thing for us is making it welcoming for everybody.
“You could be completely new to fitness, somebody returning to training, or someone who’s already competing regularly, there’s something for all of them here.”
Callum first joined Revolution more than a decade ago as a fitness instructor before working his way up to gym manager. After seven years away, he has now returned to oversee the revamped facility. “It’s nice coming back to somewhere that already means something to me.”
Part of the appeal, he says, is the community atmosphere across the Park and the opportunity to connect people through fitness.“It feels like one big community here. Everyone’s got their own teams and companies, but fitness is something that can bring people together.”
Looking ahead, Callum hopes to make even more use of the wider campus itself, with plans for outdoor training sessions and running clubs around the Park.
“There’s loads of potential here, it’s such a great environment to train in.”
To celebrate the launch, Revolution Fitness Co. is hosting a free Open Day on Thursday 25 June, with four bookable classes running throughout the day alongside prizes and giveaways from lululemon.
Park members and the wider community are invited to explore the new functional training space, meet the team and experience the new fitness offer firsthand.
