After another challenging year, in which scientists have continued to distinguish themselves – not least in the ongoing international fight against COVID-19 – the 2022 New Year's Honours list has been announced.
Royal Society of Chemistry CEO Helen Pain said: “It’s always a moment to reflect with pride when members of our community are recognised at national level with honours from Her Majesty the Queen.
"I’m proud of the achievements of all those from the chemical sciences whose contributions have been singled out this year, acknowledging the breadth of influence our community truly has.
“In particular, I would like to pay tribute to Nazira Karodia and Robert Mokaya. Nazira has played an important role in numerous activities for us over the years, notably inspiring early career chemists as part of our Joliot Curie conferences. Robert is equally inspiring, from his work on the Pan Africa Chemistry Network to joining our Board of Trustees this year.
“Like many members of the Royal Society of Chemistry, our relationships with Nazira and Robert stretch back many years, so it feels genuinely meaningful to see them in the spotlight this year.”
