Breakthrough innovation specialist Cambridge Consultants has today opened its new office in Singapore, a state-of-the-art innovation and engineering facility. Located at The Concourse, the facility triples Cambridge Consultants’ capacity in Singapore and kick-starts a recruitment drive as the company seeks the brightest local talent.
This new office is the company’s regional headquarters in Asia, supporting clients in Japan, South Korea, China, Taiwan and Australia as well as Singapore. Based in the United Kingdom and with a 60-year track record of innovation, Cambridge Consultants is a partner to the ambitious, applying market insight and technical expertise to transform clients’ businesses. Clients in Asia include Hitachi, Asahi and recent IPO success Biolidics in Singapore, amongst many others.
Cambridge Consultants’ Chief Executive Officer, Eric Wilkinson, commented, “Following a period of rapid growth, I’m delighted to open this new facility and to continue our commitment to Singapore. The fast availability of high-quality ‘deep tech’ resources is essential to building a high-value, service-based economy with innovation at its core. Cambridge Consultants plays a key role in this innovation ecosystem and we look forward to further growth across Asia, supported by Singapore’s dynamic commercial environment.”
2019 is a significant year for both Singapore and the United Kingdom. It marks both the Bicentennial of the arrival of Sir Stamford Raffles in Singapore and the beginning of a new era for the United Kingdom. The two nations recently announced the launch of a joint “Partnership for the Future”. The initiative builds on historical links between Singapore and the United Kingdom, celebrating shared achievements, and looks to the future through the launch of new collaborative initiatives. This strong framework and active support provides the context behind Cambridge Consultants’ decision to invest for further growth in Singapore.
British High Commissioner to Singapore, Scott Wightman, will attend a private reception held today to mark the office opening. In a speech he will welcome the development, commenting, “I’m glad to see these early fruits of the Partnership for the Future initiative and to see a further strengthening of the already strong trade links between the United Kingdom and Singapore. I’m particularly happy to welcome further expansion from Cambridge Consultants, a business focused on world-changing innovation.”
Cambridge Consultants would also like to recognize the support of Singapore’s Economic Development Board (EDB). Since convening its ‘Committee on the Future Economy’ (CFE) in January 2016, EDB has recognized that we are in an era of rapid technological change, where innovation cycles have shortened. This environment presents many opportunities for Singapore, which is well placed geographically, economically and culturally to be the launchpad for businesses that harness technology to transform entire industries.
Commenting on the office opening, Mr. Kelvin Wong, Assistant Managing Director, EDB, said, “Cambridge Consultants’ decision to grow their regional headquarters in Singapore is testament to the city-state’s position as a global business and innovation hub. We are pleased to have the company’s new innovation and engineering facility be part of our growing ecosystem. We are confident that it will accelerate the growth and transformation of enterprises across Asia through the creation of new businesses, products or services, as well as create good job opportunities for Singaporeans to gain valuable and practical experience in the process.”
