Bard Pharmaceuticals Limited has secured a place amongst the UK’s Top 100 Best Companies to Work For, appearing at Number 19 in the renowned Sunday Times list for mid-sized companies. This positions them as the highest placed company from Cambridge. In addition to this, Best Companies have awarded Bard 3 Star accreditation status, the highest star rating possible, and they are the only company from Cambridge to achieve this.

This year 897 companies applied to secure a place in one of the three Sunday Times lists (small, mid-sized and large companies), making it the most competitive year yet. Bard’s inclusion in this year’s list is a huge achievement and highlights a strong level of engagement within the company.

The Sunday Times Top 100 and star accreditation are both derived from The Best Companies survey, which assesses companies’ performance and best practice within eight key factors: Leadership, My Manager, Personal Growth, Wellbeing, My Team, My Company, Giving Something Back and Fair Deal. The survey, completed anonymously, allows employees to give their honest opinions, providing organisations with detailed information about workplace engagement. Mike Mair, Bard’s Head of Training and Organisational Development, said, “We’ll be using the data from the Best Companies survey to help us to continue to develop our culture. It allows us to benchmark our performance against other organisations and compare our own performance over time.” Some of the notable results taken from the survey included:

  • 91% of Bard’s employee’s said they feel proud to work for the organisation.
  • 92% said they believe they can make a valuable contribution to the success of the organisation.
  • 86% said my organisation makes a positive difference to the world we live in.
  • 88% of Bard’s employees said that the organisation is run on strong values/principles.
  • 90% felt that this organisation provides great service to its customers and clients.

About Best Companies and the Sunday Times Top 100

There are three Sunday Times lists:

Bard appears in the medium-sized companies’ list; the lists are published annually.

Best Companies set up the star accreditation scheme in 2006 to recognise excellence in the workplace. Accreditation is focused on workplace engagement as an integral part of a company’s success and growth. A Best Companies Index (BCI) score is awarded to each organisation that completes the accreditation process. Each BCI is derived from the organisation’s employee responses to the accreditation survey. The BCI then defines whether an organisation has achieved ‘Star Status’. Companies with one star are rated as first class, two stars as outstanding and three stars as extraordinary. The stars are awarded on the basis of employees’ responses to a selection of the questions included in the survey for the Sunday Times Top 100.
