Product development firm Cambridge Consultants has opened an office in Singapore as part of its international expansion programme. The office is being led by Dr Miles Upton, who has spent the last 15 years working in Asia in senior business development roles. The new office has been set up to deliver innovative product development capabilities to the rapidly growing Asian market.
Having grown year on year over the past decade, Cambridge Consultants is now accelerating its expansion – which includes plans to double its 380-strong global workforce over the next four years. In Asia, the firm already has a client base in countries such as Australia and Japan as well as Singapore – and now plans to build on that initial success.
Alan Richardson, CEO of Cambridge Consultants, said: “Our reaction to the global recession was to invest in new talent and our facilities so that we can deliver more solutions faster for our customers. Our growing success is testament to that approach, with orders at an unprecedented level. So we now feel the climate is ripe to accelerate the growth of our business.”
In its 53-year history, Cambridge Consultants has been involved in a range of breakthrough products and technologies. The company’s work for both large multinationals and early-stage start-ups can be seen everywhere – from the round tea bag you use to make your morning beverage, to the ground-to-air radio system used to control air traffic over the majority of the planet; and from the Bluetooth chip in your mobile phone to the ultra-low-cost optoelectronics in one of the world’s most successful pregnancy testing kits. To date, some 20 businesses have spun out from Cambridge Consultants since 1975 – including five listed on the London Stock Exchange.
The Singapore office will offer product development and technology consulting expertise across a range of markets – from consumer and industrial products, beverage dispensing and wireless communication to medical technology, energy, and health and wellness.
“Whether it’s consumer electronics, sensors for oil and gas exploration, manufacturing systems or mobile, broadband and satellite communications, Cambridge Consultants has the world-class expertise to help clients bring innovative products to market fast,” said Dr Upton. “We specialise in helping companies achieve the seemingly impossible, working with some of the world’s largest blue-chip companies as well as with some of the smallest, innovative start-ups who want to get to market quickly.”
Cambridge Consultants (Singapore) Pte Ltd is at 152 Beach Road, Level 28 Gateway East, Singapore 189721.
