Sentinel Oncology is a small, dynamic drug discovery company developing novel compounds to treat patients wtih cancer and other diseases. We have a broad pipeline of activities, with early stage discovery projects as well as three candidate drugs poised to enter clinical trials.
The Opportunity
We have a part-time position for a Chemist to take responsibility for laboratory operational duties. The successful applicant will also support the broader research team with activities including literature searching, data processing and management.
The role is for a 20 hour working week, initially on a 6-month fixed term contract which will be reviewed at the end of the term, potentially becoming a permanent position. We offer a flexible working environment, and value employee work-life balance, and therefore working hours can be flexibly spread across the working week, and can be a hybrid of home and office-based, as required to fulfil the role.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Manage Sentinel's compound handling laboratory
- Curation of the Sentinel Oncology compound inventory
- Manage all incoming and outgoing activities to third party CRO's, including requesting quotations, compound shipments and ordering biological assays
- Maintaining Sentinel Oncology in-house databases
Additional duties
- Competitor analysis related to Sentinel Oncology research programmes
- IP activities such as writing patent chemistry experimental sections
- Maintenance of SOPs and quality management systems
Requirements
- BSc/MSc in Chemistry
- 3+ years industry experience in a laboratory environment
- Experience with chemistry drawing packages and Scifinder
- Excellent communication and team working skills
As well as the above essential skills, the following would also be beneficial:
- Experience with chemical inventory management systems
- Broad understanding of the drug discovery process
