The Royal Society of Chemistry has an excellent opportunity for a Personal Assistant to join us on a permanent full-time (35-hour week) basis.
The Royal Society of Chemistry is a professional body, a membership organisation, and an international publisher with the goal of advancing excellence in the chemical sciences. Our purpose is to help the chemical science community make the world a better place. With over 600 employees, based in the UK and internationally we do this by publishing high quality chemistry journals, books, and magazines, by engaging with our 50,000 worldwide members and by interacting with our community to raise the profile of chemistry and ensuring high quality standards within the chemical sciences.
The role:
As a Personal Assistant you will provide support to the Director of Publishing, their team, and the Publishing Board to deliver a highly effective professional and confidential administrative service. This will include organising diaries and meetings, maintaining office systems, dealing with incoming correspondence, arranging travel and accommodation and processing expenses. Naturally you'll be able to work with a suitable degree of independence and communicate with colleagues across the organisation.
What we are looking for:
- Experience of working as an assistant to senior team members, experience at director level preferred with proven administration skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to maintain the confidentiality of all sensitive material and information.
- Excellent organisational skills, the ability to work under pressure and prioritise own activities to deliver against deadlines.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to maintain a working knowledge of the computer systems needed for administrative, secretarial, and organisational aspects of the office's activities.
The contractual base for this role is our Cambridge office, however we are currently embracing hybrid working, and therefore you will also have the opportunity to work from a UK location other than this, as agreed with your line manager. Applicants should be aware that there is an expectation that employees will attend the offices as needed for their role.
Some travel to our London office may be required.
If you are interested in this opportunity, please apply before the end of our closing date. When applying, you will need to provide an up-to-date CV and a supporting statement (no more than 500 words) indicating how your skills/expertise match the competencies outlined in the Job Description.
