Vacancy: HR Assistant

 

Location: Royston approx. 3 days per week, Cambridge approx. 2 days per week

 

The Life Science Technologies (LST) business unit of Johnson Matthey’s New Market Sector focuses on serving the pharmaceutical, agrochemical and fine chemical markets.

 

 

This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to enhance their skills and experience within a diverse and varied HR role. You will be responsible for a multitude of tasks including administrative HR support, first line HR advice for UK employees across our Cambridge, Royston and Chilton sites, end to end recruitment activity and monthly HR reporting

 

Key responsibilities

 

·       Managing the administration process of the employee life cycle, including starters, transfers, leavers

 

·       Maintenance of the company’s HR systems for all new starters, changes for current employees and leavers (including changes to personal details, and pay and benefits)

 

·       Managing the HR element of the payroll process each month

 

·       Maintenance and administration of the online compliance training programme; ensuring the database is kept up to date, and monthly reports are run to monitor completion rates

 

·       Monitor types of absence via our HR systems, in line with HR policy,

 

·       Supporting in scheduled collection of data for a variety of reports within the HR department, then shared with the wider business

 

·       Providing front line recruitment support, from initial staff requisition, creation of job descriptions, advertising, screening applications, scheduling interviews

 

·       Participating in interviews across a broad range of roles

 

·       Conducting HR inductions for new employees

 

·       Preparing all new starter documentation for new employee personnel files

 

·       Attending relevant recruitment and graduate fairs on behalf of New Markets Sector and Johnson Matthey

 

·       Act as the point of contact for manager and employees queries, respond to routine queries within agreed timelines

 

·       Provide front line support and coaching to line managers regarding employee relations issues

 

·       Advising on statutory issues, including maternity, paternity and adoption leave

 

Are you the ideal candidate?

 

·        CIPD level 3 qualified is desirable

 

·        Ability to organise and prioritise workload, managing a variety of tasks at any one time

 

·        Ability to communicate accurately both verbally and in writing

 

·        A motivated and enthusiastic person, who will be the first point of contact for any HR related queries

 

·        High degree of proficiency in Microsoft office – Word, Excel, PowerPoint

 

·        Experience working within an HR shared service environment would be beneficial

 

·        Good understanding of current employment legislation
