The process development group is responsible for developing and optimising the company’s world-class portfolio of organic electronics materials and enabling efficient supply chain to our global customers.
The candidate
The Formulation Engineer is a key member of the Materials Team in the growing arena of plastic electronics. The team is primarily focused on the development and delivery of high-quality materials into electronics production. Reporting to the Materials Team Lead, this is a hands-on research and production role directly involved in the development of new formulations and their production for supply to customers. The incumbent will be able to make a strong and high energy contribution to the company, operating as a key member of the Materials Team, proactively contributing to Quality Control and driving excellence in Health & Safety.
Key accountabilities
- Be a key technical contributor to activities of the Materials Team, providing technical insight and support to the wider team. Work in partnership with the Operations, Process and Tech Transfer teams.
- Identify and solve formulation and production issues where able and escalate to Team Leads and Project Managers where necessary.
- Participate in the formulation production process, with a focus on quality and continuous improvement.
- Propose and implement relevant experiments to address quality issues and understand the behaviour of formulations in the laboratory environment.
- Document production processes and quality for communication to internal stakeholders.
Skills and Experience
Qualifications:
- Degree-level or higher qualification in science or engineering. Hands-on experience working with electronic materials or polymer formulations is a plus.
Experience that will be used in the role:
- Practical experience with solubility and formulation of polymers for coating applications.
- Experience with electronics fabrication or clean-room working preferable.
- Demonstrate a good understanding and working knowledge of polymer materials and coatings.
- Commitment to continuous improvement, using relevant domain knowledge and understanding to resolve quality and production issues.
- High level of competency with MS Office and fluent in English (written and spoken).
