The Role

We are looking for a highly skilled, enthusiastic, and proactive Electronics Test Engineer to join our Test Development team and drive forward development of our electronic and electro-mechanical subassembly testing used throughout manufacturing our next generation surgical robot.

Responsibilities

Working independently and as part of a wider team, your responsibilities will include:

  • Developing and improving test procedures for PCBs and electro-mechanical subassemblies to ensure functional requirements are satisfied
  • Designing electronics to enable the automated testing of all parts of the Versius robot system
  • Developing tools and processes to support rapidly increasing numbers of Versius systems in the scale-up process
  • Identifying opportunities to improve test coverage and optimise yield
  • Engaging with internal stakeholders to determine their underlying needs and feeding this into the development process
  • Provide mentoring to junior members of the Test Development team
  • Liaising with external manufacturing partners to provide debugging assistance and deliver new tests
  • Work at all stages of the design cycle from concept and requirements capture through to detailed design and implementation

About you

You’ll have a degree in electronics or a related discipline and /or a proven track record in test automation and Design for Manufacture.

The following skills are essential for the role:

  • A solid grasp of electronics engineering fundamentals and their application to real world problems
  • An in-depth understanding of the design principles required to improve product manufacturability
  • The ability to design and develop automated tests for PCBs and complex electro-mechanical subassemblies
  • Desire to work in a multi-disciplinary environment with electronics, manufacturing, software and mechanical specialists
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to provide technical leadership on new projects

Experience in the following would also be useful:

  • Familiarity with working in a highly-regulated environment
  • Risk management processes such as RCA, FMEA, and Hazard Analysis
  • Scripting and embedded software (Python and C)
