Company Overview:
Cerevance is a pharmaceutical company committed to discovering groundbreaking medications for debilitating central nervous system (CNS) disorders. Through our proprietary NETSseq target identification platform we profile cell-type-specific gene expression in post-mortem human brain tissue from both control and diseased donors. This approach identifies much needed novel targets for drug development in CNS diseases. We have a robust project pipeline encompassing preclinical and clinical-stage programs and a highly skilled team of scientists. We are currently seeking a talented individual to join our Flow Cytometry/FACS team to contribute to the discovery of novel targets and advancement of our drug discovery pipeline.
Job Description: Associate/Research Scientist - Flow Cytometry/FACS
Our UK research operation is seeking to appoint an Associate Scientist/Research Scientist based in our Cambridge UK facility (Cambridge Science Park). As part of the flow cytometry team, this role will primarily provide lab-based expertise and support to our NETSseq platform. Laboratory work will focus on the preparation and labelling of sub-cellular fractions from brain tissue and their subsequent analysis and separation using flow cytometry and fluorescence-activated cell sorting (FACS).
The ideal candidate will be an experienced flow cytometer or FACS operator, with a sound theoretical understanding of and demonstrable practical expertise in these approaches, however full training can be provided. Experience of handling primary tissue/cells and working at biosafety level 2 would be advantageous. Ensuring high standards and attention to detail whilst processing numerous samples in parallel, are key requirements for this role. As part of the wider NETSseq team the successful candidate will collaborate with colleagues across the company, contributing to regular data reviews and project strategy discussions. This position requires a candidate who is highly motivated, works carefully and methodically and has excellent communication skills. The individual must have a strong team ethic and the ability to work closely and flexibly with the team to achieve company goals.
This role provides the opportunity to work within a vibrant neuroscience drug discovery environment and as a part of a multidisciplinary team. Candidates should have a B.Sc. in a relevant biology related discipline or considerable, relevant laboratory experience.
Cerevance offers a competitive salary and benefits package.
Applications (CV and cover letter) should be sent to recruitment@cerevance.com by the closing date of 12th March 2024 quoting reference ‘IVPFC 0224’.
