Heraeus Precious Metals sets itself ambitious CO2 targets

The precious metals division of Heraeus is making sustainability a core theme of its future strategy: Heraeus Precious Metals is committed to being CO2 neutral by 2025 and to no longer using fossil fuels from 2033. With this clear goal, the division emphasizes its previous commitment to sustainability and Corporate Social Responsibility. “We have a social responsibility that we take very seriously. Our ambitious goals, which can only be achieved with the support of the entire workforce, underscore this,” affirms André Christl, CEO Heraeus Precious Metals. With its targets, Heraeus Precious Metals has joined the Science Based Target Initiative. In order to gain speed in achieving these targets and to set up sustainability activities more effectively, a central Sustainability Team was installed as of August 1, 2021, with a direct reporting line to André Christl. Under the leadership of Svea Scherleithner, the team will focus not only on strategic topics but also on implementing respective ambitious measures. The many previous activities to reduce CO2 emissions as well as other sustainability aspects such as diversity or the consumption of water and chemicals will thus receive additional impetus and focus.
