From ploughs to pioneers: Jane Hutchins speaks with Cambridge Tech Podcast

The Park recently featured on the Cambridge Tech Podcast, with our Director of External Affairs, Jane Hutchins, sharing her perspective on what makes science parks work.

The conversation looks back at the Park’s origins, at how Trinity College Cambridge transformed former farmland in 1970, complete with old railway sidings and stored US Army tanks, into the UK’s first science park, and at why that long-term vision still matters 55 years on.

Jane also talks about the role of green space, how innovation communities really function, and what helps deep tech and life science companies thrive.

Drawing on 18 years’ experience across her career, which has taken her from Southampton to Cambridge, Jane shares practical insights into building places which support businesses over the long term.
