God and the brain
Can science teach us anything useful about how we relate to and experience God? How does the brain process the concept of a God? Can neuroscience tell us anything about our religious beliefs and experiences ? Is there a special 'God–spot' in the human brain that allows us to communicate with God?Our speaker is Prof Alasdair Coles, an academic neurologist at Cambridge University and a consultant neurologist working at Addenbrookes hospital. He is considered a world expert on the immunology and treatment of multiple sclerosis. Alasdair has also conducted research on the neurological basis for religious experience and is editing a book on religion in neurological disease for Cambridge Univesity Press. Alasdair is both a scientist and a person of faith, serving at Addenbrookes hospital in the capacity of an ordained hospital chaplain.
Do join us if you can for what will be an exceptional talk.
