This month's topic is Forgiving God? Natural Disasters and the Challenge to Faith.
Scientism eliminates the existence of God from its world view and yet when life hurts or treats us unfairly we often blame God, particularly when a global catastrophe hits.
At this months Parks At One we will be exploring natural disasters - often termed 'acts of God'.
We will be asking; What is there to actually blame God for in these events? Is there a way to 'forgive God'. Is faith even possible in the light of such events?
We are delighted to welcome our speaker Revd Dr Roger Abbott. Roger is a Senior Research Associate for The Faraday Institute for Science and Religion here in Cambridge and an expert in the field of Natural Disasters. His research focuses on the religious beliefs of survivors of these global events. His most recent book, co-authored with Prof. Bob White is 'Narratives of Faith from the Haiti Earthquake', published by Routledge.
Do come along and bring any interested colleagues for what will be a very helpful and stimulating talk.
Parks At One will be meeting in the Trinity Centre. Food is available to purchase at the cafe on site or free to bring your own lunch while you listen.
