SUMMARY:Unconference - you set the agenda!
DESCRIPTION:Tuesday 10 February | The Bradfield Centre | 18:30 -20:30 \n\n\n\nFor our February Software Crafters Cambridge meetup\, we are hosting an “unconference”! \n\n\n\nThis event promises an evening of engaging discussions\, knowledge sharing\, and networking opportunities focused on the themes of your interests. We hope you’ll come away with some new ideas to tackle your most pressing challenges and find a path to successful solutions within your own career and organisation. \n\n\n\nFormatRather than formal presentations\, we are giving everyone attending an opportunity to shape the agenda to focus on your preferences. Our event will therefore be run “unconference” style where you’ll be given the chance to co-create the topics to be discussed. \n\n\n\nHow does it work? You’ll be given the opportunity to write topic suggestions around a tech theme on sticky notes. These will be added to a board and the group will vote on their favourite topics. The most popular will be selected and attendees then move into smaller breakout groups to discuss and come up with ideas and solutions. You’ll be able to move around the groups to give you the opportunity to gain as much insight as possible. \n\n\n\nWhether you’re the type to proactively ask questions or prefer to sit back and listen to the inquiries of others\, this event is tailored to suit both introverted and extroverted personalities. \n\n\n\nAgenda6:30-7:00pm Arrival and drinks/pizza7:00-7:15pm Welcomes and intros7:15-8:30pm – Unconference8:30-8:45pm – Wrap up \n\n\n\nAudienceThis meetup is for anyone that is interested in learning how to accelerate their success with software engineering. It is estimated that 1 in 4 individuals suffer some form of online exclusion\, and over 30% of schoolchildren currently sit below the minimum digital living standard. SUMMARY:Architecture Kata
DESCRIPTION:Back by popular demand\, for our March meetup\, we’re hosting an Architecture Kata. Join us for this session and get the chance to flex your software architectural design muscles! \n\n\n\nWhat’s the format? You’ll be split into groups and have a business problem to solve. You’ll be tasked with designing a technical architecture to meet that problem context. \n\n\n\nAs with real-life you’ll have to manage various trade-offs in your design and interact with a Product Owner to clarify your questions. \n\n\n\nAt the end of the task you will showcase your architecture and technology choices back to the wider group as part of a group discussion and you’ll be able to decide if you’d make any decisions differently after receiving feedback and seeing what other groups designed. \n\n\n\nThis session is all about collaborative learning\, skill enhancement and networking in a relaxed environment. You don’t need to be experienced in designing software architecture or a software architect to participate. \n\n\n\nThis is an excellent opportunity to try out Software Architecture in a collaborative\, supportive and fun environment. \n\n\n\nFood and DrinksPizza and drinks will be provided upon arrival\, with vegetarian\, gluten free and vegan options available. \n\n\n\nWant to bring a friend? Great! Just ask them to RSVP so we know they are coming. \n\n\n\nNo need to bring your laptop this time\, we will provide pens\, paper and post-its for each group. \n\n\n\nSponsorsThis meetup would not be possible without the support of The Bradfield Centre who provide their amazing space and Codurance\, the global software engineering consultancy and founders of the Software Crafters communities.
