Cambridge Heartwear founder appointed chair of Cambridgeshire Institute of Directors

Professor Rameen Shakur, founder and chairman of Cambridge Heartwear, has been appointed chair of the Cambridgeshire branch of the Institute of Directors (IoD).  Prof. Shakur and Cambridge Heartwear have been part of the Cambridge Science Park community for six years. The company has enjoyed enormous, international recognition with its wearable, heart monitoring technology which uses real-time date and cutting-edge AI.  On his appointment Prof, Shakur said: “Cambridge is one of the best places in the world to research medical technology and develop innovative businesses which can make a huge difference to the healthcare industry.  “I am looking forward to working with colleagues to grow the IoD’s presence in Cambridge particularly in the healthcare, tech and medtech sectors. Enabling members to expand their networks and receive support where it is needed most from our influential policy team.”  One of the first initiatives Prof. Shakur is spearheading is the launch of Cambridge Calling – a new forum for IoD members, from all sectors, to come together and hear from well-known business figures as they share advice, their journeys, and the lessons they have learnt along the way.
