Cambridge Science Park member Cambridge Future Tech has strengthened its international ambitions after acquiring US investment and advisory firm Vest Coast Capital, giving the business a permanent presence in the world’s largest technology market.
The deal marks a significant milestone for the deep tech venture studio, which builds and backs companies developing breakthrough technologies from research discovered at leading UK universities and corporate innovation teams.
The acquisition expands Cambridge Future Tech’s portfolio to more than 20 deep tech companies while creating new opportunities for investment, commercial partnerships and growth across both the UK and the United States.
Among the US businesses joining the portfolio are Invisible AI, which uses artificial intelligence to improve productivity and safety in factories, and Lumenuity, whose technology is helping make everyday devices such as smartphones, drones and robotics smaller, lighter and more powerful.
The portfolio also includes OmniBuds, AI-powered earbuds that monitor health, and SAIF Autonomy, software helping autonomous machines operate safely in challenging environments.
Owen Thompson, Founder and CEO of Cambridge Future Tech, said the acquisition would strengthen the company’s global reach while building on its growing investment portfolio.
