Broadcom helps strengthen technology behind Standard Chartered’s global operations

Park member Broadcom is helping banking giant Standard Chartered strengthen the technology behind its global operations, creating a more secure and resilient platform across 54 international markets.

The project is modernising the infrastructure which supports the bank’s day-to-day services, enabling new technology to be introduced more quickly while improving security, resilience and operational efficiency.

Around 70 per cent of Standard Chartered’s global technology infrastructure is already running on Broadcom’s VMware Cloud Foundation platform, which provides the foundation for its private cloud environment. The new platform allows technology to be deployed in as little as a day rather than weeks, helping the bank respond more quickly to changing customer, security and regulatory requirements.

John Sharratt, Global Head of Technology and Infrastructure at Standard Chartered, said: “Standardising our technology infrastructure across our global operations enables us to meet the evolving demands of our clients while strengthening the resilience, responsiveness and security that global banking demands.”

Krish Prasad, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Broadcom’s VMware Cloud Foundation Division, said the project would help support Standard Chartered’s continued investment in automation, security and AI-driven innovation.

The announcement highlights the role Cambridge Science Park companies continue to play in delivering technology that supports critical services for organisations around the world.
