Cambridge Science Park took centre stage on BBC Look East prime time on Wednesday 5 January, with a showcase of breakthrough science and technology being developed by companies based right here on the Park.
The BBC’s flagship regional programme featured a run of interviews with Park tenants whose work is shaping the future, from humanoid robots with “common sense” intelligence, to compostable plastics made from peas, flexible lenses for next-generation smart glasses and breath tests that could transform cancer diagnosis.
Viewers met researchers at Cambridge Consultants, where physical AI is giving robots a deeper understanding of the real world; Xampla, whose plant-based materials are replacing single-use plastics; FlexEnable, developing ultra-thin, flexible lenses for smart eyewear; and Owlstone Medical, a global leader in non-invasive breath diagnostics.
The prime-time feature highlighted the depth and diversity of innovation taking place across the Park and underlined Cambridge Science Park’s role as a launchpad for world-changing ideas, commercial growth and global impact.
